OUR MISSION

The duties and functions of the Regulator, Granting of Citizenship for Exceptional Services, and those of his Office are enshrined in Articles 25, 25A and 25B of Cap. 188 of the Laws of Malta.  In substance, the Office of the Regulator shall ensure that the process for the Granting of Maltese Citizenship by Naturalisation for Exceptional Services or in terms of the Individual Investor Programme, as provided for in the relative Regulations, is duly followed with integrity and the highest ethical standards in a responsible manner, and that the innate spirit behind the provisions of these Regulations is followed throughout without fail.  Besides, the Office of the Regulator may also investigate Complaints by Applicants received by the Regulator about the process undertaken during the eligibility assessment which led to the refusal of one’s request for a Maltese citizenship adjudication or, where an application in terms of the now defunct Individual Investor Programme is concerned, the refusal of Maltese citizenship by the Minister responsible thereto.

In the discharge of his functions as are referred to above, the Regulator shall act in his individual judgment and shall not be subject to the direction or control of any other person or authority.
